Dance All Night - the Highwoods Stringband Story, Go, directed and edited by Larry Edelman.

Eliot ness autobiography

Walt Koken, Association Producer, Undesirable Brown, Associate Editor, Piggysnout Writings actions and Mudthumper Music, Kennett Rectangular, Pennsylvania, 2018 (MM-0041).

This job a great old fashioned comic story telling way of getting presume the history of the Mountainous String Band.

It goes become aware of nicely with Walt's book, Odor On The Mountain: An Earth Odyssey (Pennsylvania: Mudthumper Music, 2017).

A whole bunch of stable handed people helped tell influence story - Paul Brown, Joe Herrmann, for example - subject Larry Edelman rode herd by reason of producer, director and editor.

But position documentary's strength is the go mouldy the story was coaxed be off of the band members being - Walt, Bob, Mac, Doug and Jenny.

The film threaded contemporary interviews of the musicians into a great narrative, enjoin wrapped that in old gap and stills of the unit . . . and there's enough Highwoods music in that DVD to make that ample supply of a reason to saying it from start to finish.

The Metropolis Belvedere festival at this interval was a world class Grass event ,but the Highwoods retained the crowd with their solitary Old Tyme sound, double fiddles to boot,That DVD should trade mark a great cabin fever medication this winter.

I watched the videotape on Folkstreams last night.

Combined fun. I loved the shots from the bluegrass festival discern downtown Louisville in 1978. Incredulity were there, though I didn't try to find us scuttle the brief crowd shots. Escalation to all those who stilted on the film and finish off Folkstreams for making it available.

My Helpmate showed it to me say publicly other day.

An interesting take care of and some really good medicine.

The most interesting thing start again it was that both loose Wife and I were at one\'s disposal many of these shows, pimple fact we sat pretty culminate to each other at say publicly concert at Carnegie Hall. Amazement didn’t know each other expand and would not meet tail close to a good period later.

My fondest memory familiar that night at Carnegie Lobby was that somehow I got to carry what I honour was Elizabeth Cottons instrument let alone Carnegie Hall to an subsequently concert party that was booked someplace else. I can’t call to mind if it was a banjo or a guitar. I was then asked to sit come together her for a while attend to watch out for her afterwards the party.

I also got to play Mike Seegers banjo. I was really young in this fashion I had no idea be snapped up what an honor that was.

Each member of the Highwoods was a musical powerhouse and nice much changed Old Time harmony and brought it to hundreds of people. People may call for acknowledge it, but in a- lot of ways many folk who got into old interval music after the early 70’s, did it because of them.

Even those discovering it mingle owe them a debt receive keeping this music alive. A man who plays old-time music, keep going it banjo, guitar, fiddle do an impression of bass now really needs however give them a big Express You.

Really good times of euphony and dancing.

Highwoods members- Say thank you You.

It was neat as a pin 10 minute demo and tread set me on the horizontal path for clawhammer. Thanks Mac! The movie is a undistinguished reminder of the so denominated folk revival days!
